25 and Counting Kuching

// Broken Promises//

I know I will leave this blog untouched the moment I created it.

Sometimes I feel like not everything in my little hearts of hearts and brain should be expressed to the ever preying public. Okaylah, that is so perasan of me but who knows? For all I know, my so-called stalkers might be following every single online movement of mine.

Updates on my life:

  1. Still jobless. Not bothered with the unemployment status because honestly, I try my best enjoy this moment as long as it lasts.
  2. Still 13 kg overweight. I am seriously considering that slimming package at Slim World etc but I think a bag is a better investment.
  3. Constantly on holiday. Budget escapades, mind you. So far, I have roughly 10 holidays already lined up this year. Excited as usual. Thank you budget airliners, you are always in my good book.
  4. No engagement proposal yet. Not that I am desperate, just in case you’re wondering since I typed that post about rings and all.
  5. A few months back I was obsessed with tanned skin, now all I want is to be fairer than freaking Snow White.
  6. At one point, I have considered the following: Take up Masters, Apply as an SQ cabin crew (IF I managed to lose weight), One year work and holiday in NZ and Volunteer work. In the end, none of these options were considered because they are a bit too unlike me. I am a dreamer, not ambitious enough. :P
  7. I totally trashed the idea of becoming a recording artist because I don’t think I would like all that attention AND not that I have any talent. All I am destined to be is a great bathroom singer and a karaoke junkie. Oh yes.
  8. I might want to reconsider my dream of becoming a writer. Slowly achieving that by having a blog.
  9. Still dreaming that the management of luxury hotels/resorts all around the world would sponsor me on a holiday to their establishments. Dream on…
  10. Still wishing that I have a magic voodoo doll because some people are pain in the… Meh.

Okay, will blog more. Running out of things to blog. Life is very mundane now. Can’t wait to go on a holiday!!!

Love,
E…

// Of Baking//

At the age of 25, I am thankful, my baking skill is getting better. Certainly I am no expert but that never stops me from trying! The first time I attempted baking was Raya 2008 where I made instant chocolate cupcake. It was nice but it lacked something.

It was when I went to London in 2010, I came across the Hummingbird Bakery. Thanks to Farah for introducing me to heavenly cupcakes and made me fell in love with the art of baking (the almost perfect) cupcakes and other sweet treats.

Today I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried baking Nutella cookies. Luckily, everything turned out well. Thank you, Nabiya, for sharing the recipe!

On top of that, I also baked a wonderful batch of Nutella cupcake.

The one with frosting!

Mmm… I pray that I will have the guts to bake a proper cake with killer frosting soon!

The moment I could afford traveling, I have made it an annual goal to travel to at least one new country. In 2012, at the age of 25, this is the city I have chosen. May it be a dream come true…

// Of Wedding and Ring//

At the age of 25, yes, I do think about marriage… A lot. But this revelation took years to instill itself within me.

What puts me off about marriage is the cost. Sure, if I were to do it my way, a simple akad nikah will do. Unfortunately, according to Malay tradition, that is not enough. Let me explain.

Apart from the akad nikah, there must be a wedding reception. Not an ordinary one but something big and extravagant, followed by the dowry money and barang hantaran. This is just the basic must do for the wedding, don’t get me started with the melulut session etc.

Hence, a wedding could easily cost up to RM50k or MORE.

Of course there is the option for a budget wedding but Aslan would then give me the stare and ask me, “In your lifetime, how many times do you intend to get married?” and I would answer, “Of course, with His blessings, just once. Why?”

“Once in a lifetime and you want to make it a budget wedding?”

That is how we came to accept the fact that our wedding will not be cheap nor budget. When we talk of weddings, the next time that comes in mind is none other than the ring.

What kind of ring? What brand? What price range? What material? What design?

Perhaps I’ve been watching too many American films, I am pretty much obsessed with Tiffany & Co ring. Besides that, I don’t mind a Chanel ring. :D

My ideal ring for the wedding would be something simple with diamonds and practical. I think I’d go for something platinum or white gold. A friend once told me I should get a gold wedding ring because of the increasing price. I see no sense in that. Why would I want to sell my wedding ring? :P

Here are my choices of wedding ring. (In a way this post is dedicated to Aslan supposes he reads this… Ahemmmm)

Then again, it does not matter what ring he gets for me. But diamond(s) would be nice… Haha.

// Either way, I’m screwed//

*This entry has no photo, ironic to the purpose of this blog but what the hell, hope you enjoy reading this*

Yesterday, I went car shopping browsing. Now that I am 25, I would like to fulfill that crazy and yet practical dream of owning my very first car.

When I was in high school, I always wanted the new Volkswagen Beetle. Perhaps I was influenced by Mandy Moore through her MV ‘Candy’. Either that, I was pretty much clueless about cars.

The moment I got my driving license, I began to appreciate the power and speed of a car. Hence, that silly dream of owning a Beetle vanished (No offense to Beetle lovers but I want something more ferocious than a tame car). The first car I stuck the red ‘P’ sticker to was an Isuzu Vehi-Cross. It was powerful. Fast. Loud. Legendary.

To be honest, during my driving probation period, I drove mostly big powerful cars (With the exception of the Suzuki Vitara, LOUSY) such as Mitsubishi Pajero, Mercedez ML, Range Rover Discovery & Freelander, Mitsubishi Air Trek, Honda HRV, Toyota Wish and Toyota Voltz. How can I possibly drive a normal boring car after driving so many interesting ones? Just to let you know, I drove all these cars because I used to help my dad to carsit his colleagues cars.

Still, there was a time when I used a Proton Savvy, a family car which I shared with my mum. It was during my university years and I had no other choice. It was reliable until at one point when it had some problem with the alternator. Unfortunately, the car didn’t stay for long. After two years, we had to go our separate ways. More like forced but best if I don’t dwell on this particular topic.

Anyhow, I am currently sharing a Perodua Alza with the whole family. Imagine the horror whenever I urgently need to use the car and it is not in the car porch. Frustrating. My reasons of buying a car are as follows:

  1. When I start working as a reporter, I need to have my own transport.
  2. If I were to use the Perodua Alza, I am tied to the school runs; I can fetch Naq at 620pm but not Nisa as my lunch break is only for an hour.
  3. I would love to have my own car. This reason explains everything, really.

So, back to my story. Yesterday, Aslan accompanied me to test two particular cars. The first one is a used European car and the second is a Japanese reconditioned car. I am in love with the European car but the cost of its upkeep turns me off. As for the Japanese recon, it is the most perfect car for me EXCEPT for its super expensive price and rarity, it might be a little tricky to find spare parts just in case it breaks down in the future.

Aslan have done his researched and presented his findings very well to me. The decision has been made but we will see how this story goes. Either way, I am so screwed. Life is hard when our choice is limited. Meh.

// A Very Spoiled Girl Indeed//

A girl loves to be spoiled rotten from her loved one(s) once in a while… Of course a couple can celebrate their love for each other everyday and not just on Valentine’s day. It’s just that we love to contribute to the businesses involved in commercializing this occasion. :p

Aslan woke up as early as 830am to plan the surprise, which he didn’t really have to do… What he got me on this overrated occasion:

A cheesy Valentine’s Day card, an expensive single rose and the biggest surprise, a bolster for my headband collection from Sereni & Shentel! Talking about headbands, Aslan gave me a beautiful red Sereni & Shentel Bow Down for my 25th birthday.

Clearly with this fiery red Bow Down, I am the Queen of his heart…

I also got a few gifts for myself. Self love is very important. As the saying goes, before we love someone else, we must love ourselves.

The first time I saw this lovely red Chanel purse, I know, we belong together. The self love does not stop there. In fact, I splurged some hard earned moolah on…

I have been searching for this beauty for almost two years and believe me when I say how over the moon happy I was when I finally got it.

Now, I must mourn for my burnt pocket.

// Hello, nice to meet you.//

First photo of moi at the old tender age of 25. Officially, I am not yet 25. According to the medical record (aka the pink card), it was stated I was born around 5pm.

Nevertheless, happy birthday to me and happy Valentine’s day to you!

A photojournal of my life at 25. Can't promise anything extraordinary but do enjoy the show!
